Skill Requirements:


Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training


Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Registration by a provincial or territorial, or regional association as Registered Animal Health Technologist, Registered Veterinary Technician


Experience: Experience an asset


Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English


Work Setting: Animal hospital


Area of Specialization: Small animals


Specific Skills: Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery, Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery, Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian, Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian, Counsel clients on animal health care, Conduct and assist in laboratory research, Produce diagnostic radiographs, collect samples and perform other laboratory tests


Essential Skills: Reading text, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Job task planning and organizing, Continuous learning
